Yamunotri is the source of the Yamuna River and one of the Char Dham circuit’s four temples. At 3293 metres above sea level, it is the highest point in the area. The town of Yamunotri is located on the Indo-China border.       {{keyword}}

The 6-kilometre hike to Yamunotri is characterised by rough mountains and dense trees. On the foothills of Kalind Parbat, there is a little temple. The temple of Yamunotri is supposed to have been built in 1839 by the Tehri monarch.       {{keyword}}        A black marble idol is used to represent the goddess. Ganga Devi is also depicted in white stone at the side of the Yamuna.

The sacred shrine of Yamunotri, source of the river Yamuna, is the westernmost shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas, perched atop a flank of Bandar Poonch Parvat.

The chief attraction at Yamunotri is the temple devoted to the Goddess Yamuna and the holy thermal springs at Janki Chatti which is 7 km away.
